It adds credibility, creates buzz, and shows your clients you’re thinking outside the box.

We’ve all been there—those quick wins that make you want to fist-bump the air. A referral comes through, a lead converts on your landing page, or your latest open house brings in three ready-to-buy buyers. That high? It's addictive. But while conversions keep the lights on, your brand is what keeps clients coming back—and referring their friends, too.
Your brand is your handshake, your reputation, and your follow-through—wrapped up in a package that says, “I’m here for the long haul.” So how do we balance chasing conversions without leaving our brand behind in the dust?
Conversions Feed Today, Brand Feeds Tomorrow
Let’s be honest—when you need leads, you're tempted to shout “Buy now! Limited-time deal!” from the rooftops (and maybe even from the rooftops of your listings). But hammering conversion messages 24/7 without nurturing your brand makes your business feel a little like a used car lot, a.k.a. transactional, not transformational.
Your brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room. It’s how you follow up after a showing, how you educate your clients, how you show up consistently—whether or not there’s a deal on the table.
Blend the Two Like a Marketing Smoothie
So how do we strike the balance? Mix your messaging. Create content that shows your expertise (conversion) and your personality and values (brand).
Share client success stories that highlight your unique approach
Offer valuable advice that positions you as the trusted advisor, not just another salesperson
Show behind-the-scenes moments, community involvement, or even your favorite local coffee spot
And yes, sprinkle in the calls to action—but let them ride the wave of trust you've already built.
Build Trust, Reap Results
A well-crafted brand earns conversions. It attracts people who want more than just a deal—they want a partner. And when the market gets noisy (which it always does), the agent with the loudest “brand voice” often outlasts the one chasing only the next click.
Pro Tip: Your "brand" is what your customers and clients say about you and not what you say your "brand" is.

Anchoring with an Extreme Offer: Setting an extreme (but reasonable) initial position can shape expectations and create room to negotiate.
The F-Word—Fair: People hate feeling like they’re being treated unfairly. Use the word “fair” strategically to reset negotiations.
This book has really challenged my thinking. I would normally avoid leading negotiations with an extreme offer, fearing it would scare people off and immediately kill the deal. However, after learning how to do it the right way it made me realize I’ve been leaving money on the table. I was eager to test these techniques in real estate negotiations.
