Local Events Roundups

Become the "What's happening this weekend?" agent, without living on Facebook 24/7

Let's be real, your clients don't wake up craving another "Just Listed" post. They're trying to figure out what to do this weekend without spending 45 minutes scrolling, fighting with ads, and accidentally joining a random neighborhood group from 2009.

That's where Local Events Roundups come in. When you post a simple list of upcoming festivals, farmer's markets, school events, parades, library programs, or charity runs, you become useful. And in real estate, useful beats flashy almost every time.

Here's why this works so well as a marketing move for real estate agents: local events are a low-pressure way to stay visible. You're not pushing. You're helping. And helping builds trust with clients and future clients, especially the folks who are "not moving yet… but maybe in spring."

Keep it quick. Think: 3–5 events, each with the date, time, location, and one short "why it's worth it." Bonus points if you add parking tips or a "best for kids / best for food / best for live music" note. That tiny detail makes your post feel like it came from a neighbor, not a spreadsheet.

Make it consistent, too. If people learn that every Thursday you drop a weekend roundup, they start looking for it. That's how you build a content habit that doesn't require you to dance on Reels (unless you want to… no judgment, I'll watch from a safe distance).

And don't forget the quiet real estate tie-in: events show lifestyle. Lifestyle sells locations. Locations sell homes. Sneaky? Maybe. Effective? Absolutely.

Try This Today

Pick one day per week (like Thursday) and post a "Weekend Roundup" with three to five local events, plus one simple question at the end: "Which one would you actually go to?"

Then save that post format as a reusable template.

And hey, if you try this, tell me what kind of events get the most replies in your area. I'm always curious what neighbors show up for (besides free snacks at open houses).

Thought of the Week

Make Time for Reflection

Slow Down To Move Forward

You ever notice how we can give clients all the clarity in the world… but forget to give ourselves the same gift? We're out here advising people on life-changing decisions, yet half the time we're running on coffee, chaos, and whatever's scribbled on the back of yesterday's to-do list. That's exactly why carving out a little space each week to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself isn't a luxury; it's a survival strategy. And honestly, it's one of the smartest moves an agent can make.

Why Reflection Helps You See the Bigger Picture

When the week is moving fast, everything feels urgent. Every text looks like a fire. Every "Got a minute?" feels like the beginning of a saga. A quick reflection session helps you zoom out. Instead of reacting to the week, you start spotting patterns; what's helping you grow, what's eating your time, and what you should probably ditch. It's like giving yourself a mini coaching session without paying coaching-session prices.

The Questions That Actually Matter

You don't need a journal thicker than a phone book. A few simple questions will do the trick:

  • What actually moved my business forward this week?
  • What drained me?
  • What energized me?
  • What can I adjust next week so I'm not repeating the same mistakes?

These questions hit different when you're honest with yourself. And yes, "stayed up too late scrolling Zillow memes" counts as honesty.

Reflection Makes Better Decisions Easier

We've all made choices on the fly, some brilliant, some we'd love to pretend never happened. Weekly reflection helps you rely less on guesswork and more on awareness. You start making decisions based on insight instead of impulse. Whether it's choosing how to spend your marketing time or setting boundaries with clients, you'll feel more confident and less like you're winging it with a prayer.

A Practice That Pays You Back

The beauty of reflection is that it multiplies. The more you do it, the more grounded you feel. And when you're grounded, your business decisions get sharper, your relationships with clients get smoother, and your direction becomes clearer. It's the quiet work that builds the loud results.

What Are Your Thoughts?

How do you check in with yourself each week, and what's one insight that surprised you the last time you slowed down and reflected?
