Marketing Tip of the Week

Pet-Friendly Property Highlights

Because for many buyers, the dog has veto power

If you’ve been in real estate longer than a week, you know this truth: people say they’re buying a house, but their pets are absolutely weighing in. I’ve watched buyers ignore granite countertops and laser-focus on backyard fences like their Labrador was footing the bill. And honestly? They’re not wrong.

Pet-friendly features aren’t “extra” anymore. They’re decision-makers. For many buyers, especially first-timers and move-up families, pets are part of the household. When agents overlook that, they miss an easy way to build connections and stand out in a crowded market.

Here’s the good news: you don’t need to reinvent your marketing. You just need to notice what’s already there and talk about it. Fenced yard? Call it out. Durable flooring? Mention how it handles paws and playtime. Nearby trails or dog parks? That’s lifestyle gold. These small details help buyers picture real life, not just square footage.

Pet-friendly highlights also build trust. When buyers see that you understand their day-to-day reality, they feel seen. You’re not just selling a house; you’re showing them a place where everyone in the family fits, fur included. That kind of marketing feels human, and it sticks.

This works especially well on listing descriptions, social media posts, and video walk-throughs. A quick line like, “Perfect setup for pet lovers with room to run and easy-clean floors,” can stop the scroll. It’s subtle SEO for real estate agents, but more importantly, it’s relatable. Buyers aren’t searching for perfection. They’re searching for fit.

One quick caution: don’t oversell. Pet-friendly doesn’t mean “bring your pet iguana and three goats.” Stick to what’s true, and frame it as a bonus, not a promise. Clarity always beats hype.

At the end of the day, this is about storytelling. When you help buyers imagine morning walks, backyard fetch sessions, or a sunny spot by the window for a cat nap, you’ve already won half the battle.

Remember, a dream without a plan is just a wish, and good marketing is the plan.

Try This Today

Update one active listing or recent social post by adding one specific pet-friendly feature and tie it to daily life (not just the feature itself). Simple. Effective.

I’d love to hear if you ever had a pet seal the deal on a transaction? Shoot me a note or share your story. Those are always my favorites.

Thought of the Week

Get Uncomfortable

Because comfort is cozy… and also where growth goes to take a nap.

Let’s be honest, comfort feels good. Predictable routines. Familiar scripts. The same old “I’ll do it next week” conversations we have with ourselves. And in real estate, comfort can look like sticking to the lead sources you know, posting the same kind of content, or avoiding that one conversation because it might feel awkward. But here’s the truth we don’t always like to admit: nothing new grows in the comfort zone. It just… maintains. And maintenance doesn’t move the needle.

Comfort Is a Great Place to Visit, but Not to Live

Comfort isn’t bad. It’s just limited. When everything feels easy, it usually means you’ve mastered that level. And mastery is great, but it’s also a signal. A signal that it might be time to stretch. If your days feel a little too smooth, that’s often your cue that growth is waiting just outside the familiar.

The Stretch Feels Awkward for a Reason

Trying something new will feel clunky. You’ll second-guess yourself. You might even cringe a little afterward. Congratulations, that’s growth in motion. New listing presentations, new content styles, new conversations with clients or agents… they’re not supposed to feel natural at first. If they did, they wouldn’t be stretching you.

Small Discomfort Beats Big Regret

Here’s the trade-off most people miss. The discomfort of trying something new is temporary. The regret of not trying? That sticks around. One uncomfortable phone call, one new habit, one bold idea shared out loud can change your business. Playing it safe rarely does.

You’re More Capable Than Your Comfort Zone Suggests

Your comfort zone is a poor judge of your potential. It’s designed to keep you safe, not successful. Every version of you that achieved more, earned more, helped more people, felt more confident, started by doing something uncomfortable first. Growth has always required that entry fee.

What Are Your Thoughts?

Where in your business or your life do you know you’ve been choosing comfort over growth, and what’s one small uncomfortable step you could take this week?

Rehumanize Your Business

How Personal Videos Accelerate Sales and Improve Customer Experience

by Ethan Beute and Stephen Pacinelli

Why This Book Pulled Me In Immediately

Let me set the scene. We're all communicating more than ever, emails, texts, DMs, automations stacked on automations, and yet somehow it feels like we're connecting less. That's the tension Rehumanize Your Business jumps right into.

This book isn't anti-technology. It's anti-hiding. Ethan Beute and Stephen Pacinelli make the case that modern business didn't lose trust because people got worse; it lost trust because businesses stopped showing their faces. Their solution isn't flashy. It's human. And that's exactly why it works.

As I started reading, it felt less like "learning a new tactic" and more like being reminded of something I already knew… maybe I'd forgotten along the way.

The Humanity Gap

So once the authors pull you into this idea that business has gone a little cold, they don't rush to fix it. First, they slow things down and name the problem. And honestly, that pause matters.

Key Points

  • Efficiency and automation have unintentionally widened emotional distance
  • Text-based communication strips away tone, warmth, and intent
  • People don't distrust businesses; they distrust faceless businesses
  • The "Humanity Gap" explains why good services still lose attention

My Reaction

This section felt like someone finally putting words to a quiet frustration I've felt for years. You can do everything "right" and still feel invisible if your communication lacks presence.

What I appreciated most is that the authors didn't blame people for disengaging. They simply explained why it happens. When humanity disappears, trust doesn't crash; it slowly leaks out.

I enjoyed this section because it made me more observant. I found myself rethinking emails I'd sent and messages I'd received, seeing them through a completely different lens. And it naturally made me curious: Okay… so how do we fix this without burning ourselves out?

Please share your thoughts on whether you've already read it or are reading it now. I would love to hear what you think! And, if you're looking for more inspiring reads, don't forget to check out my book 📚 club.

Yours truly,

Michael B.
